2.78ct Tanzanite Graduated Hoop Earrings 9ct Gold

Tanzanite is the blue to violet to purple variety of the mineral zoisite. It is mined commercially only in one area of the world: the Merelani Hills of Tanzania, which is where it gets its name. Tanzanites appearance is influenced greatly by its pleochroism, which is the ability of a gemstone to show different colours when viewed in different crystal directions. Tanzanite can be violetish blue, like a sapphire colour, or much more purplish. Often, both the violetish blue and purplish colours are readily visible in a fashioned stone when it is gently rocked and tilted. Tanzanite is relatively new to the coloured stone galaxy, discovered in 1967, while it has been proclaimed the most important gemstone discovery in over 2000 years.

• 4 x Oval cut Tanzania AA Tanzanite gemstones measuring approx. 4x3mm each with a combined minimum gemstone weight of  0.663ct.
• 4 x Oval cut Tanzania AA Tanzanite gemstones measuring approx. 5x4mm each with a combined minimum gemstone weight of  1.320ct.
• 2 x Oval cut Tanzania AA Tanzanite gemstones measuring approx. 6x4mm each with a combined minimum gemstone weight of  0.799ct.
• The collection comprises a total of 10 gemstones, with a combined minimum weight of 2.789ct.
• Expertly crafted in 9ct Yellow or White Gold with a metal weight of 3.27grams.

Each earring measures approx. 20mm in length and approx. 5mm wide.

The earrings are secured using a post and hinge back fitting - for pierced ears only.
