Tsavorite Garnet
0.45ct Tsavorite Garnet & Dia. Oval Stud Earrings 9ct YG
Discovered in 1967 by geologist Campbell Bridges in Tanzania, Tsavorite Garnet is a vibrant green variety of grossular garnet. A second find in Kenya in 1971 led to the first commercial mine in 1974. Named after the nearby Tsavo National Park, it ranges in colour from yellow green to bluish green, with the most prized being a pure emerald green with a hint of blue.
Formed under immense geological forces, Tsavorite is rarely found intact, making clean stones over 2 carats extremely rare. With a Mohs hardness of 7.25 and a brilliance that exceeds emeralds, Tsavorite is a durable and dazzling choice for fine jewellery. Its unique beauty and scarcity make it a treasured gem for collectors and designers alike.
