Zambian Emeralds are for the majority produced in the Kamakanga and Kagem Mines and are known to be of a stunning deep green colour, with a darker tone and more of a bluish tint than Colombian Emeralds. Emerald is a variety of the mineral Beryl, of which Morganite and Aquamarine are also varieties!
It is classified as a medium or darker green to blue green Beryl, with its colour deriving from Chromium, Vanadium, Iron, or a combination of minerals. It has a vitreous (glass-like) lustre. Emerald is unique amongst the other Beryl varieties as it often contains its signature Emerald inclusions.
